HIPAA-Compliance / Security

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 legally mandates that all healthcare organizations need to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of patient information.  The main objective behind this law is to maintain security and privacy of individual patient and to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of health information systems by making improvements in electronic healthcare transactions.  Being in healthcare service sector we, at MEDREX, maintain 100% compliance with the HIPAA ensuring clients that we effectively meet administrative, technical, and physical security.  We safeguard patient privacy and maintain data integrity for every employee and customer.

At MEDREX all our medical transcription services are molded according to the HIPAA regulations and our work process ensures privacy and security to healthcare institutions.  We ensure that we work exactly according to the HIPAA guidelines, which have been well adopted in our work process in the following manner:

Physical Security

To incorporate physical security in place, our medical transcription facilities can only be accessed by our highly trained, cognizant, and authorized staffs who are deputed for this service.  The entry of the staff is maintained and controlled by a login key that restricts the entry of any unauthorized person.

Information Security and Integrity

Data along with system and network are completely secured to ensure that information security and integrity is maintained and it is disclosed only under proper authentication.  All our systems used in the transcription have active security and are continuously monitored throughout 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  The system also has automated and real time network intrusion detection.

Data Access

We have adopted extreme measures to ensure security of the patient's data getting transcribed in our organization. Our entire work process is connected to the company's private network and any external storage devices like floppy disk or pendrives, etc., are not allowed in the production area.  This further assures confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and data security.

All the employees of MEDREX sign a confidentiality agreement ensuring that they will strictly comply with the privacy and confidentiality of the patient’s records.  Our employees are aware of the HIPAA regulations and make every effort to be responsive towards HIPAA mandates that reduce paperwork and streamline the work process.
